Last updated: May 2, 2026
1. Introduction
ReaderML (“the App”) is an independently developed application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
2a. Information you provide directly
- Google account information (name, email address, profile photo) when you sign in with Google Sign-In
- PDF files and notes you create or upload within the App
- Subscription status (whether you are on a Free or Pro plan)
2b. Information collected automatically
- App usage data collected by Firebase Analytics (anonymous, aggregated)
- Crash reports and performance data via Firebase
- Remote Config fetch events (used to deliver legal pages and Pro feature lists)
2c. Information we do NOT collect
- We do not read the contents of your PDF files
- We do not collect payment card details — all billing is handled entirely by Google Play or Apple App Store
- We do not collect precise location data
- We do not collect contacts, call logs, or any data unrelated to the App’s function
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected to:
- Authenticate you and maintain your account session
- Sync your PDFs and notes to cloud storage (Pro subscribers only)
- Verify your subscription status and unlock Pro features
- Deliver app configuration and legal content via Firebase Remote Config
- Improve app stability through crash and performance monitoring
4. Cloud Storage
Pro subscribers’ PDFs and notes are stored in Cloudflare R2 cloud storage. Your files are stored under your unique user ID and are not shared with other users. If your subscription expires, your files remain accessible in read-only mode for 30 days, after which access may be restricted.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following third-party service providers that are necessary to operate the App:
- Google Firebase — authentication, remote configuration, analytics, and crash reporting (Google Privacy Policy applies)
- Google Sign-In — account authentication
- Cloudflare R2 — cloud file storage for Pro subscribers (Cloudflare Privacy Policy applies)
- Google Play / Apple App Store — subscription billing and purchase verification
We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
6. Data Retention
- Account data is retained as long as your account is active
- Cloud-stored files are retained for 30 days after subscription expiry, then may be deleted
- If you delete your account or request data deletion, we will remove your stored files and account-linked data within a reasonable timeframe
- Anonymous analytics data may be retained by Firebase per Google’s data retention policies
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Opt out of analytics data collection
- Download a copy of your stored files at any time from the Cloud Storage screen in the App
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at: support.readerml@gmail.com
8. Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. For more detail, see the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” section in the App’s legal pages.
9. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit and access-controlled cloud storage. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Third-Party Services
The App integrates third-party services that have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review:
- Google Privacy Policy (covers Firebase, Google Sign-In, and Google Play)
- Cloudflare Privacy Policy (covers R2 cloud storage)
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. The most current version is always available within the App under Profile → About ReaderML → Privacy Policy.
